Meral Ismarion
Meral was found in the remnants of a non Llolth worshipping Drow village by members of her adoptive clan, the Ismarion.
The Ismarion are an ancient elven clan whose roots go back to Ismarion, a Pallathian hero of the Orc Fall wars, who defended the elven fort Geleran against orcish hordes for two weeks, until the arrival of Sagahamnar's great general Torbur Elf-eater.
Since then the family has declined in fame and fortune. They are now landowners of a small estate in the south-western part of Pallathia and they produce woodcarvings and fine furniture as well as rare woods for musical instruments and magical items.
Meral's adoptive parents are not the heads of the clan and are not the richest of the not overly wealthy Ismarion clan, but her childhood and upbringing was full of love and laughter and joy and quite comfortable in the large ramshackle village in the trees where she and her adoptive brothers, sisters and cousins were raised.
The house is carved with the skill of many Ismarion hands and the Ismarion arms are present everywhere: a golden honeybee in a Tiath rose bloom.
Her adoptive parents are Velris (father) and Cyuna (mother) Ismarion, who already had an unusually large family for elves, three children, and had two more after Meral's adoption. Meral's siblings, in order are: Teasa, Xanir, Quillia, (Meral), Merfyrr, Hualon.
Her father's cousins, Hefin and Afara Ismarion are he traders who found her. Her adoptive grandparents are Liyal and Gerram Ismarion and Joyir and Uyana Tressotor. Meral is fully accepted into Pallathian society, due to the emphasis placed upon acceptance of all elves as his creation by Keran. Raising a Drow child in the worship of Keran is a good and pious act, loving it is no more than courtesy. Meral was trained as a mage by her paternal grandmother Afara and maternal grandfather Joyir, both reasonably accomplished wizards. From them she also gained a love for the power Elaphiƫl, lady of wisdom and wizardry. Elaphiƫl is a power subservient to Keran.
Meral journeyed to Achneon as part of the cultural exchange program set up by the kings of Achneon and Pallathia, to increase mutual understanding and hopefully extend the armistice into a permanent peace. The exchange program has ended and many of the young people chosen have remained in the 'enemy territories'. There are many things for them to explore after all. Meral is one of them.
